The Neuroscience of Mindfulness: Meditation and Your Brain

When Lama Kathy (as a research subject) and Dr. Julie Brefczynski-Lewis (as a research scientist) became involved in the mindfulness movement in the early 2000’s, everything was new and uncertain. Almost two decades later, mindfulness is everywhere – but it’s not without its critics!
Come learn the science behind the movement, plus learn experiential techniques. Dr. Julie and Lama Kathy will review past research and current thoughts about neuroscience, and then we’ll break into small groups so folks can learn simple mindfulness techniques. After the lesson, we’ll get back together for a roundtable discussion of mindfulness and the brain.
