Train Your Brain with Mindfulness!

There is a growing interest among people of all ages in the physical and mental benefits of meditation and mindfulness. But what IS mindfulness, and does it really provide better health and well-being?

A real-life brain scientist - and the Buddhist meditator who was once her test subject - will take us on a journey into the science behind the stories of meditation’s beneficial effects. We’ll learn about neuroplasticity, the relaxation response, and some really cool stuff about what happens to your brain waves when you close your eyes and follow a simple mindfulness routine.

After snacks, beverages and a lively TED-style talk by brain scientist Julie Brefczynski-Lewis and Buddhist meditator Lama Kathy Wesley, we will break into small groups for hands-on learning of Mindfulness basics. We’ll also talk about how training your brain can help you live a healthier life.

Presentation will include a live demonstration of how mindfulness affects the brain, table activities and conversations with experienced Mindfulness instructors from the Columbus KTC meditation center in Franklinton.

You’ll leave the event understanding how to practice meditation and how to integrate a mindfulness practice into your everyday life. Join us!
